What is a Pint?
Going for a pint?
A couple of pints?
I’ll take a pint.
What is a pint?
Ale - not milk, or water for your soup.
Time for your mates, or time just for you.
Blowing the froth off - shooting the breeze,
making the time pass by with ease.
During the day, mid-afternoon,
Tuesday or Wednesday isn’t too soon.
A place far or near - either can do,
if a wide choice of ales and some of them new!
Plenty to mull over, get facts of the matter,
“Do you know where that brewery is?” to start the bar patter.
Sometimes a sample as the host witters,
a nod and a think on the hops and the bitters.
More often than not, sample turns to a sale,
Awkward for Brits to say it’s a fail.
Eagerly awaiting the end of the pour,
checking the glassware for signs that it’s worn.
Big choice next - where to sit?
At the bar for a natter, or the window for a think?
3 P M on a weekday, busier than it should,
counter-culture in action - a revolution bud!
But it’s a secret best kept - no need for the masses,
It’s a point of view earned, for all of the classes.
Breaking the wheel, the butterfly has might,
It knows the answer, to what is a pint?
