A Pair of Cats

A pair of cats getting fat, 
but they still bring home the mice.

A bed in every room, 
but still we have to make room.

They don't fetch, or come when asked, 
need walkies or us in fact.

Maybe they keep us?
Living in their house, sharing their food, giving them tales to tell.

Letting us watch their ears twitch, 
and tickle their tums when they itch - throwing us a mouse to fill ours.

A pair of cats getting fat, 
as we pay the vet to tell us that.
